Scholarships Awarded
All three of the $800 1999 Coastal Plains Chapter AWMA Environmental
Stewards College Scholarships have been awarded. The OWCC award
went to Ms. Katrina E. Hamilton, the UWF scholarship went to Mr. Chris
Posey and the PJC scholarship was awarded to Ms. Laura Hayden.

Project Recap Reborn
There is still life in the Chapter's idea for a gasoline cap giveaway. The 3
yearprogram goal is to replace 2,000 leaking gas caps on autos in NW
Florida each year. The estimated cost is $30,000. Listen at the May 12th
Annual Meeting for more details.

AWMA Salt Lake City
A major program onsolid waste this year at the AWMA Annual Conference
and Exhibition will feature a panel discussion with John Quarrels (former EPA
Deputy) as Chair and panelists; Mike Shapiro, current EPA-OSWER
deputy assistant, Don Clay, former EPA deputy and current Env. VP with
Koch Industries, and the Senior VP of Env. and Reg. Affairs for McDonalds.
This panel on waste issues is scheduled for Wednesday, June 21.

P2 Poster Contest
The Chapter helped sponsor the food for the Pollution Prevention (P2) Poster
Reception held in November 1999. The Grand Prize winner was Greta Meyer-
Arendt, a Ferry Pass 8th grader. Her poster will be the design for the Year
2000 Earth Day T-shirts.
