Coastal Plains Chapter BOARD MEETING
AIR & WASTE MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION

December 17, 2002

J. Meade noted there was an ozone industry coalition put together in the past. That group has depleted its grant money. He asked Brenda what a general mission of this new coalition would be? What will be the FDEP’s role? Brenda wants to bring in FDEP personnel from all medias and Tallahassee to assist the coalition with training, ideas, grant writing, etc. C. Arnold sees AWMA’s role to help initiate the effort and act as a resource. It’s not a joint venture or long-term commitment. There were 40 or 50 people attending the P2 meeting in November. This coalition would include members from Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa County. FDEP was planning on having a draft Mission Statement for the Workshop to initiate the discussions.

Tenative plan was to have a _ day workshop and then a simple lunch. We could ask attendees to pay a couple of dollars for lunch with AWMA paying the balance. Gulf Power may have some rules against this. Another option would be to end the meeting at 1130 and not include lunch. It may be a better option to have coffee and snacks and forego the lunch. We will plan for 0800 to 1130 with the brainstorming session starting at 0830. B. McLeod suggested we include the ECUA personnel. B. Leonard would welcome any names of personnel who should be invited to the meeting. The FDEP does not have an agenda for this meeting. They are looking for participants to generate the agenda. FDEP will act as a resource. There have been groups like this formed in the past who have studied different parts of the area. Their information and research is available.
