Coastal Plains Chapter BOARD MEETING
AIR & WASTE MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION

August 7, 2003

Formation of Chapter Standing Committees
C. Arnold asked the Board whether standing committees may help. D. Mitchell commented that it may be better to have certain people responsible for these chapter functions in lieu of a committee so that things aren’t missed. D. Waters feels that we need to reach out to our newer members better. D. Mitchell offered to contact new members if someone can give him a list. C. Arnold, C. Melton, and L.A. Cich offered to help D. Waters with the Membership Committee.

J. Meade said that he doesn’t mind assembling the newsletter, but that there is a real “lack of news” in this area. D. Mitchell suggested that the businesses need to contribute articles about what they are doing to positively impact the environment. D. Mitchell also suggested that the newsletter recognize new members, promotions, etc. C. Melton offered to pass along FDEP news releases. D. Waters also offered to forward the Gulf Power, “Gulf Currents”.

D. Waters stated that the Education Committee would coordinate scholarships, distributing education materials to schools, making presentations at schools. D. Mitchell suggested that we may want to put together a “Speakers’ Bureau”. It would be a list of speakers and environmental topics that would be available at any time.

J. Meade needs newsletter articles by the end of August. He also needs the new member list and their email addresses.
